Optional next step

Request local project quotes

Tell us about your sod installation project. ProjectMetrica uses WiserLeads, the Triares/homeyou lead platform, to check whether a participating buyer is available for your project.

  • No purchase is required.
  • Availability and matching depend on ZIP code and project details.
  • ProjectMetrica may receive compensation for a qualifying accepted request.

The form is submitted to ProjectMetrica first and, when an eligible WiserLeads opportunity is accepted, the required lead data is sent to Triares/homeyou. TrustedForm is used to create a consent certificate for the form session. See the Privacy Policy.

Formula & assumptions

How the sod calculator works

Order area = measured area × (1 + waste %). Rolls = order area ÷ roll coverage. Pallets = order area ÷ pallet coverage.

For a better estimate

  • Measure each lawn section separately if the shape is irregular.
  • Add extra sod for trimming around curves, trees and edges.
  • Supplier roll and pallet coverage varies, so update the defaults before ordering.

Common questions

Frequently asked questions

How much extra sod should I order?+

Many projects benefit from a modest waste allowance for trimming and damaged pieces. Irregular lawns may need more than simple rectangles.

How many square feet are on a pallet of sod?+

Pallet coverage varies by farm, grass type and roll size. Use your supplier’s stated coverage in the calculator.

Does this include installation cost?+

The optional cost field estimates sod material only. Labor, delivery, soil preparation and removal of an old lawn are separate.
