Optional next step

Request local project quotes

Tell us about your interlocking paver installation project. ProjectMetrica uses WiserLeads, the Triares/homeyou lead platform, to check whether a participating buyer is available for your project.

  • No purchase is required.
  • Availability and matching depend on ZIP code and project details.
  • ProjectMetrica may receive compensation for a qualifying accepted request.

The form is submitted to ProjectMetrica first and, when an eligible WiserLeads opportunity is accepted, the required lead data is sent to Triares/homeyou. TrustedForm is used to create a consent certificate for the form session. See the Privacy Policy.

Formula & assumptions

How the paver base calculator works

Base volume = length × width × depth. The calculator converts inches to feet, then cubic feet to cubic yards and applies waste.

For a better estimate

  • Use the compacted design depth, not the loose pile depth.
  • Different aggregates have different densities; edit the density field if your supplier provides a value.
  • Excavation depth should also account for bedding sand and paver thickness.

Common questions

Frequently asked questions

How much paver base do I need?+

The quantity depends on the patio area and compacted base depth. Enter those measurements above to convert the result into cubic yards and tons.

What material is used for paver base?+

A well-graded crushed aggregate is commonly used because it compacts and drains better than rounded stone.

Should I order extra paver base?+

A small allowance is useful for compaction, grading and measurement variation. The calculator lets you change the waste percentage.
